Project Snapshot

The East Hill Office Building is a three story, 60,000 square foot structure located on Cornell-owned land behind East Hill Plaza and the Cornell Institute for Social & Economic Research (CISER) in the Town of Ithaca.

The purpose of the project was to construct cost effective, flexible office space at an off-campus location to be used for a variety of university administrative and support functions.

Cornell relocated administrative and non-academic functions to the East Hill Office Building. Cornell maintains offices throughout Ithaca, including the Cornell Business & Technology Park, East Hill Plaza, Downtown Ithaca and Maple Avenue. The East Hill Office Building site was ideally suited for this purpose given its location adjacent to East Hill Plaza where some non-academic units are currently located. It also presented a great opportunity to improve a site which contained abandoned buildings from a previous use. One noteworthy amenity is that Ithaca Limousine operates a shuttle, free of charge to Cornell employees and students, from the East Hill Office Building to Collegetown and main campus. The shuttle runs every ten minutes from 7:40 a.m. to 5:10 p.m. Monday through Friday.

EAST HILL PLAZA SHOPPING CENTER
East Hill Plaza

Project Snapshot

East Hill Plaza Shopping Center is the primary neighborhood shopping center in the Town of Ithaca. Adjacent to Cornell University, it provides retail services to students, staff and neighbors and provides office space to university departments.

The 10 acre, 110,000 SF neighborhood shopping center was acquired and redeveloped by Cornell University in 1984 to halt its deterioration, protect nearby Cornell lands and for long-term expansion needs.

The retail providers, anchored by the P&C Food Market, are critical to the vitality of the adjacent neighborhood area, while the University Inn Best Western provides the closest off-campus lodging available. In addition to neighborhood services, the Plaza paid $402,000 in taxes in 2008.
